SKIMO Split air conditioner’s performances

Technical tests and trial runs

Before it was marketed, the SKIMO Split air conditioner underwent various tests and trial runs reproducing its utilization conditions in order to validate its performances.

Test condition

The SNDC test room reproduces the outdoor temperature and sunshine. SKIMO Split was tested on a cab of 2.5 m3.

 

The SKIMO air conditioning system starts running only after the temperature is stabilised in the test cab enclosure. Throughout the tests, the cab is exposed to an average simulated solar energy of 800W/m2 measured by a pyranometer. The air conditioning system is supplied with 12 VDC.

Description of the measurements

The measurements are taken from a central data acquisition system equipped with calibrated ambient probes of the PT100 thermocouple type offering a precision of +/- 0.1°C.

Measured performances

Exterior unit mounted flat

 

For an outdoor temperature of 32°C , the temperature inside the cab drops rapidly below 15°C and stabilises at 18°C.

 

With 12V, it consumes at most 83.3 A for an outdoor temperature of 43°C and an engine temperature of 56°C.

 

Exterior unit mounted horizontally

 

For an outdoor temperature of 43°C, the temperature inside the cab drops rapidly below 28°C and stabilizes at 26°C.

 

With 12V, it consumes at most 84.2 A for an outdoor temperature of 43°C and an engine temperature of 60°C.
